Documentation

Installation, setup and operation of RoadBoard.

Installation

RoadBoard is planned as a Windows app for Euro Truck Simulator 2. The demo package will contain the app and the required ETS2 plugin. The download will become available when the demo launches.

  1. Download and fully extract RoadBoard.
  2. Copy the plugin DLL to the ETS2 plugin folder.
  3. Start RoadBoard.
  4. Then start Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Install the ETS2 plugin

The included PrismTextureStreamer plugin is required to show RoadBoard on a display inside the truck and to receive live data from Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Important: Use only the plugin DLL supplied with RoadBoard and remove older copies from the active plugin folder.

How to install the plugin

  1. Open the Euro Truck Simulator 2 installation folder.
  2. Open the bin\win_x64\plugins folder.
  3. Copy the supplied plugin DLL into this folder.
  4. Restart RoadBoard and then ETS2.

The plugin sends position, heading, speed, speed limit, remaining distance and remaining driving time to RoadBoard using local connections only.

Why is this necessary?

The ETS2 Telemetry SDK provides driving data. The plugin connects this data to RoadBoard and streams the app interface to a GPS, dashboard or custom screen in the cab.

Communication takes place locally on your own computer. RoadBoard uses these addresses for telemetry and navigation:

127.0.0.1:48152 and 127.0.0.1:48153

These addresses are predefined and normally do not need to be changed.

Show RoadBoard inside the truck

Start RoadBoard before selecting the source in the game. Then open the plugin menu in ETS2 and add the screen you want to use.

Step Selection Details
Open menu Ctrl + F8 Opens the plugin's screen manager.
Add screen GPS / Dashboard / Custom Select the display type used by your truck.
Select source RoadBoard Stream Surface Shows the RoadBoard app on the in-cab display.

For smooth gameplay, use the performance profile at 1280 × 720 and 15 FPS. The sharper profile uses 1920 × 1080 and 30 FPS.

Maps & BlitzerApp

Maps uses the real ETS2 map. The search field finds cities, companies, repair shops, fuel stations and other destinations. Navigation displays the route, next turn, road name, speed limit, current speed, arrival time, driving time and remaining distance.

The map and vehicle arrow follow live telemetry. If you leave the route, it is recalculated automatically. Map and route searches require an internet connection.

BlitzerApp warns about saved speed cameras on the map and through voice alerts. The volume of these alerts can be adjusted separately in the BlitzerApp settings.

Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
RoadBoard does not appear in the truckStart RoadBoard before ETS2, check the plugin DLL and select the source again from the Ctrl-F8 menu.
No telemetryMake sure only one current plugin DLL is present in the ETS2 plugin folder, then restart ETS2 completely.
Maps cannot find a destinationCheck your internet connection and reopen Maps after the simulated loading screen.
BlitzerApp shows no alertsCheck the telemetry connection and local speed camera file; the app can continue running in the background.
