Development Update: RoadBoard on the Way to Its First Demo

August 6, 2026RoadBoard Team

RoadBoard development is continuing with a clear goal: to create one central, user-friendly interface.

Our current focus is on delivering a stable first demo version. To achieve this, the existing core areas are being further refined, tested, and prepared for use in the game. What matters is not only that individual features are available, but that they work reliably together as a complete system.

Maps and navigation are among the features planned for the first demo. The map view is intended to follow the truck in real time and calculate drivable routes to cities, companies, repair shops, and fuel stations. Turn-by-turn instructions, the current speed limit, estimated arrival time, driving time, and remaining distance should remain easily accessible throughout the journey.

Another important area is the in-truck display. Using the ETS2 plugin, RoadBoard can be displayed on GPS units, dashboard screens, or custom screens inside the truck. At the same time, the Windows application remains fully usable and receives relevant driving data from the game, including position, speed, speed limit, and route information.

The Speed Camera app is also one of the planned core features. It is designed to use the truck’s current position, display speed and speed-limit information, and warn the driver about registered speed cameras. The overall concept is complemented by media features such as YouTube and Spotify, as well as a clearly structured app store.

In addition to developing new features, improving the quality of the existing areas remains a high priority. This includes bug fixes, stability and performance improvements, user-interface optimizations, and the ongoing maintenance of both German and English text. For an application intended to be used while driving, information must be clear, quickly accessible, and reliable.

Public applications for the beta-testing programme have now closed. This allows the testing phase to focus on the already selected group of testers. Feedback from this group helps us identify issues early and continue improving the demo in a targeted way.

The demo release is currently scheduled for August 15, 2026, at 7:00 PM CEST. As with any development project, features and release dates may still change. Should any adjustments become necessary, we will communicate them transparently through the blog, the roadmap, and the RoadBoard Discord server.

Development will not stop after the first demo. Future versions are planned to include additional map options, customizable backgrounds, a redesigned Spotify experience, and further media features. Android Auto also remains on the roadmap as a larger future expansion.

Thank you to everyone who follows RoadBoard, tests it, and supports the project with feedback. We will continue working to make RoadBoard a practical and well-integrated companion for every ETS2 journey.
